Thursday: first school governors meeting of the new year at Longbenton Comunity College. The main presentation related to the CASHE qualification, which qualifies students to work in child care and careers working with children.
In the general elections of 1992, 1997, 2001 and 2005, the Labour candidate in Hexham came second and the Lib Dem candidate third. Not even Nick Clegg's mum thinks he will wake up as PM on 7th May. The lesson is clear - a Lib Dem vote in Hexham is a wasted vote. The only way of defeating the Tory candidate here is by making a tactical vote for Labour.
Remember the 1980s/1990s?
Tories vs. North East
In an interview with Jeremy Paxman, David Cameron confirmed the Conservatives are specifically targeting the North East for public sector job cuts. If you are willing to lend a hand to prevent the Tories deciminating the North East like they did in the 1980s, please get in touch.
I was born in Alston, Cumbria and raised in Newcastle by my mum in a single-parent family. My grandfather and both great-grandfathers on my mother's side were miners. I won a fee-assisted place to Newcastle RGS, and appreciate more than anyone the difference in life a good education makes. After school I went on to Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard Law School where I obtained a first class degree in Law, a Master degree in Economics and Politics, and a Masters degree in Law. I work as a barrister, and my wife and I have two fantastic kids, the eldest of whom was born at Hexham General Hospital. I’m the only one of the main party candidates to be North East "born and bred".
