- I was born in Alston, Cumbria and raised in Newcastle by my mum in a single-parent family. My grandfather and both great-grandfathers on my mother's side were miners. I won a fee-assisted place to Newcastle RGS, and appreciate more than anyone the difference in life a good education makes. After school I went on to Cambridge, Oxford and Harvard Law School where I obtained a first class degree in Law, a Master degree in Economics and Politics, and a Masters degree in Law. I work as a barrister, and my wife and I have two fantastic kids, the eldest of whom was born at Hexham General Hospital. I’m the only one of the main party candidates to be North East "born and bred".

That's going to take some introducing!
I picked up on that as well, but I'm not going to avoid one of my favourite films just because it has a temporarily inconvenient title!
